Lesley Shaw
Lesley Shaw is an artist and printmaker working primarily in mixed media and traditional printmaking techniques such as linocut and drypoint.
Life drawings form the basis of all her work. She works quickly and instinctively to capture the beauty and simplicity of the form, looking at the shape and line the body takes.
Figurative and animals feature in bold, striking images and simplistic, illustrative line drawings. Schiele and Lautrec’s mastery of figure drawing continue to inspire Lesley, as do the likes of Sybil Andrews of the Grosvenor School artists, capturing the spirit of 1930s Britain with iconic vibrant linocuts.
